Week 10: AdWords Policies

Hey guys!
So one last thing I want to address is Google policies. It is a very important topic and it addresses what is not allowed on AdWords. You can say just about anything on the Internet in the United States,  but Google has a few rules about what you can and can’t say to the world using AdWords.

A full list of rules and regulations can be found in the advertising policies section https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy. Google goes into detail about 23 of their policies. They are pretty understanding and Google has a reputation to live up to and having this list does restrict some users. AdWords enables businesses to promote a variety of products, services, apps and websites. Google just wants users to be safe with content that is on sites. Some of the content talked about on their policies section is prohibited content, practices, and restricted content. For example alcohol, games and gambling is under the restricted content. Everyone has rules and Google specifies throughout the support site what its rules are. Before you use AdWords you should check out the full policy so you are not overstepping your boundaries.

Week 9: Google Adwords Application

Adwords now has a app in the iTunes store that you are able to take with you on the go. You are able to view your campaign, ad group, and keyword stats. The app allows you to get push notifications for status changes in your account. Also you are able to find your managed customers, and benefit from performance improvements. Google always amazes me and they know how people are always on the go and providing customers with this app is genius. Its for the every day business person.

All you need to do is go to the app store and download the app. Before you install you should sign up for a google account since it is ran through google. It will cut down a step. Then it will bring you to a page with a date range with impressions, clicks, CTR, Cost and Average Position. In the app you will have a menu that will give you an overview of your campaigns, opportunities, and billing options. The app allows what you are able to do on your computers however its on the go for your convenience.

Week 8: Google Partners

Google Partners is a program for different types of professionals to use for research, training and certification. If you sign up for a google account you will have access to all the tools in one place. If you do not have a google account you will need to go to www.google.com and sign up for a Gmail account. After that you can go to google partners which will let you get certifications in Adwords and more than 6 different types of certifications.

Google also provides a help section under google partners that will let you gain access to different types of articles explaining all of the different google products and what benefits they offer. Google Partners also provides certification in the search marketing field. The tests are 100 question and allows 120 minutes for completion. After you pass the exam you will have to wait 48 hours for your results to appear. Google Partners is a helpful tool for any business and can allow your employees to gain access to search engine marketing.

Week 7: Ad Extensions

Have you ever noticed on a ad on Google there is one either on the top of your search results or off to the side of your page. Well the last part of your ad will have your store or business information which is called an ad extension. This will give customers more reason to click on your ad if they don't have to search for you. The site links are able to group the top 6 options your customers will more than likely click on. For example store information, address, and phone number (call extension), etc.

There are no fees for using ad extensions. You are able to see the results in minutes. People want convenience and don't want your site to be a hassle or else they will look elsewhere. One time I was trying to order a pizza online and I was having so much difficulty with the site. However when I went to search on to another pizza place near my location It was one two three! I was able to look their name up and they gave me an extension of store information like an address, phone number, and the menu. One thing people want is simplicity because they are already having a long day and want to just sit and relax.

You will see results as soon as you get your information up there just give it a try!

Week 6: Campaign Strategies

Hey guys!
So we are learning about Campaign strategies and how to plan a successful google Adword campaign.

As I was searching the web I came across a site that goes through all the ways you are able to be successful with your blogs. It was very straight to the point. I listed the key points below and you should find helpful according to the site Wishpond.

1. Who is my target market?
2. What's my offer?

These two questions are the most important. You need to know who you are trying to target first and foremost. Also what are you trying to offer? What makes your business so unique?

3. What are my customers searching for?
4. What do I want out of my ad campaigns?
5. What do I want my customers to do?
6. How will I get my customers to take action?
7. What are my competitors doing?

From 3-7 is the core of your search. These are really specific questions that you can always keep in mind. A good way of really understanding your audience after you have targeted them is taking a poll and survey. You can always learn from your audience.

8. What's my budget?
9. What's my time frame?
10. How am i going to measure my results?

These last questions are ones you should think about in the beginning. How long do you want to monitor your results and how much are you willing to put as your budget

In order to be successful you need think about these strategies.

Week 5: Keywords

What makes a good keyword? Keywords are important in the Search Engine world. However you really need to know who your audience is. Also you need to know what your trying to get across to your readers. If you have a product but you don't know what to chose as a keyword then that's a problem. When your product is something targeting a younger audience then you need to use keywords that your audience would use. If your targeting younger adults then you need to talk like a younger adult.

In order to have effective keywords they need to be relevant and have traffic. You need to think what is trending at that time too. You want to catch your audiences eye and why not use something that is relevant in today's time. Google keywords planner has tools to use in order to choose more effective keywords for an ad campaign.

Week 4: Monitoring A Campaign

Hey guys!
So this weeks topic is all about campaigns and how to monitor them specifically. The world is changing everyday and its hard to keep track of what is in and what is out. A good way of getting peoples attentions would be to focus on something that is relevant today. One way to get your cause out there would be to campaign. Once you have something in mind the test is all about results and how your audience is going to react. I am going to go into briefly about a few ways your able to monitor your results.

One important way of monitoring a campaign is to set time frames. You really get to see the progress and the activity of your campaign this way. Say for instance you are checking on the status on something everyday and you don't see a huge difference. However if you were to check in once a week then you see the activity and progress in a larger way. You are able to change the time frame by going into adwords and clicking on the date range menu. There are many time frames you can set as well as your own preference by selecting custom but the reason why there is so many is because you are trying to look at trends and patterns. Looking at previous months results is a good way of tracking patterns.

Another important way of monitoring a campaign is checking the clicks and the click through rate otherwise known as CTR. The CTR is an indicator of how well your ads/keywords are performing. It is the number of clicks that your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad is shown. So if you were to get 5 clicks and 100 impressions then your CTR would be 5%. A high click through rate is a good indication that the performance of your ad is helpful.
